Artist's Statement:

Painting is an exciting adventure into life around me. The subjects that peak my interest and capture my heart are what you see in my paintings. I enjoy capturing the texture of rocks or bark on trees or the fur on animals and feathers on birds. To paint a two dimensional surface and portray the glory of the sky from sunrise to fog or clear blue sky to storm clouds, as well as the grandeur of  mountains and valleys capturing distance and space is a joy and blessing.   I love the contrast of darks and lights as they play against each other in the values of the subject. The Light has over come the darkness in my life when I trusted Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior. He has given me forgiveness, love, freedom, peace, purpose and so much more. I am able to be the person he created me to be and use the talents He has gifted me with for His glory.

Brief  Biography:

Valerie Borgal was born and brought up in the greater Boston area of Massachusetts. Although she absorbed the works of New England artists, she went to Montreal to study with Professor Dr. Arthur Lismer, one of the seven national artists of Canada. She graduated in 1967 from the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts, School of Art and Design. From 1967-1977 she was totally engaged as wife and mother.  Upon joining the Tewksbury Art Guild's workshop in watercolor, she started painting again. She attended classes and workshops in Kennebunkport, Maine with the late Bette Wasserboehr, and with Paul George in Gloucester, at Pemaquid Point and Monhegan Island in Maine. She is a member and past president of the Andovers Artists Guild, a member of the Arts League of Lowell, the Tewksbury Community of Artists, the Woburn Guild of Artists, the Arts Institute Group of the Merrimack Valley, and the Whistler House Museum. Val also writes poetry when moved to do so. Some are included on this site.

It not only has great recipes, but stories of her mom, Jeanne Ifill Riley Camber Conley's life, poems by Val and her mom's friends, paintings by Val and photos by her husband, Tom and Val throughout the book. The book has 132 pages, spiral bound, so it can lay flat while reading recipes.

Out of His Mind

Jan - Feb. 6th the Tewksbury Community of Artists pays tribute to
Mico Kaufman, world renown Sculptor and Medalist,
who resided in our town until his passing in 2016.

Mico always had images in his mind of what he wanted to create.
He would have more than one project going on at the same time.

This is my tribute to this humble, creative artist and friend.

Twisted, Knotted and Divided

I dd

I wore this scarf and when I took it off and set it down
I was reminded of the condition of our Country.
It is twisted, knotted and divided.
The light of our nation is dimishing because God is rejected
 and pushed aside and g
ood is called evil and evil is called good,
I pray for our nation, that we turn back to God
and ask for His forgiveness and be blessed.

If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.
