Artist's
Statement:
Painting is an exciting
adventure into life around me. The subjects that peak my interest and
capture my heart are what you see in my paintings. I love the
contrast of darks and lights as they play against each other in the
values of the subject. The Light has over come the darkness in my life
when I trusted Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior. He has given me
forgiveness, love, freedom, peace, purpose and so much more. I am able
to be the person he created me to be and use the talents He has gifted
me with for His glory.

Brief
Biography:
Valerie Borgal was born and brought up in the greater Boston area of
Massachusetts. Although she absorbed the works of New England artists,
she went to Montreal to study with
Professor
Dr. Arthur Lismer,
one of the seven national artists of
Canada. She graduated in 1967 from the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts,
School of Art and Design, in the providence of Quebec. From 1968-1977
she
was totally engaged as wife and mother. Upon joining the
Tewksbury Art Guild's workshop in watercolor, she started painting
again. She attended classes and workshops in Kennebunkport, Maine
with the late Bette Wasserboehr, and with Paul
George in
Gloucester, at
Pemaquid Point and Monhegan Island in Maine. She is a member and past
president of the Andovers
Artists Guild, a member of the Arts League of
Lowell, the Tewksbury
Community of Artists, the Woburn Guild of
Artists, the Arts
Institute Group of the Merrimack Valley, the Whistler
House Museum and Brush
Gallery. Val also writes poetry when moved to do so. Some are
included on this site. |

Monhegan
Lighthouse and
Museum
Sitting
on top of Monhegan Island, the Monhegan Lighthouse and Museum overlooks
the village below, Manana Island and the
Atlantic Ocean
(towards the
mainland).
It holds many artifacts unique to the island life. The
light
is a beacon to those at sea,
lighting the way in fog and the darkness
of night or storm to safe harbor, just as
Jesus,
the Light
of the
world, guides us "out of darkness into His marvelous light".

Jesus
spoke to them and said, I am the
light of the world;
he
who follows me
he shall not
walk in darkness
but
shall have
the light of
life.
